What is Crystal Therapy?
Crystal therapy, also known as crystal healing, is a form of complimentary therapy that involves working with crystals or gemstones to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.
History
Medical people and Shaman have worked with crystals around the world for thousands of years. Recorded use goes back over 5000 years in Chinese texts and Indian Ayurvedic texts. The Bible has over 200 references to crystals and their powers and associations in both the Old and New Testaments. In Genesis 2:2 it states, “The gold of that land is pure: pearls and lapis lazuli are also there.” Writings from Roman Historian Pliny the Elder and other ancient texts like the High Priest’s Breastplate and the The Qu’ran, shows that it was a well-established practise within Ancient Rome, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Ancient China and Ancient India. In short, if crystals have been worked with for all of this time, they must be beneficial.
Science
Albert Einstein is quoted as saying,
“Everything is energy and that is all there is to it.”
He also said that once it has been created,
“Energy cannot be destroyed; it can only be changed from one form to another.”
Nikola Tesla said
“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.”
Everything is made from energy. That is science fact. We are energy and our crystals are energy. When we combine the two, incredible things can happen.
Each type of crystal emits specific vibrations or frequencies. These vibrations resonate with particular chakras or aspects of the body, influencing your energy field.
What happens during a crystal therapy session?
The client will relax on a treatment table. The crystal practitioner will select crystals based on the client’s specific needs. This is usually done intuitively, although a client might request that specific ailments or areas of the body are targeted.
The crystals will be placed on or around the client’s body. Crystals are often placed on the seven main chakras.
The word chakra means "wheel" or "disk" in Sanskrit, and chakras are thought of as spinning energy centres within the body. This concept comes from ancient Indian spiritual healing traditions, especially Hinduism, Buddhism and yoga philosophy. When your chakras are open and balanced, energy flows freely, supporting your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. If they’re blocked or unbalanced, it can lead to issues in those areas.
Crystals may also be placed in the hands or at the feet.
The crystal practitioner may also set an intention for the clients healing. This could be for relaxation, improved sleep, increased energy and motivation or assistance with anything concerning the client.
Each crystal therapy session will be different, with different crystals being placed in different locations. Clients report improved mood, better sleep quality and a reduction in pain. Several sessions are recommended for healing purposes, ongoing sessions are recommended as part of a self-care routine and to maintain the balance within the physical and subtle bodies.
Which crystals will my practitioner work with?
As there are over 4600 different crystals, different practitioners will work with different crystals. Each time you experience crystal therapy, your practitioner will select different crystals. Some of these may be the same as before. Some will be different. Generally speaking, crystal practitioner will work with a chakra set of crystals to begin with. There are many variations of chakra sets. My favourite combination includes red jasper, carnelian, citrine, malachite, blue lace agate, lapis lazuli and amethyst. However, I might switch some of these, for example, malachite is known as the stone of transformation and is very powerful, I might choose to work with rose quartz or rhodonite instead if I feel my client is not ready for the level of healing that malachite brings. Additional crystals may be placed in your hands, at your feet and in other locations around your body.
Who can benefit from crystal therapy?
Anyone. Crystal therapy can aid relaxation which helps the body to heal itself and calms emotions. I have worked with children as young as five and adults into their 80’s. We can carry a crystal as a reminder to look after ourselves as the most simple for of crystal therapy, we can meditate with our crystals and I recommend regular crystal therapy sessions with qualified and insured practitioner for the deepest crystal therapy benefits.
What are the benefits of Crystal therapy?
