The Spiritual Book Club

The Spiritual Book Club began in July 2026 as a relaxed and welcoming space to explore books that encourage reflection, curiosity and personal growth. We read a range of spiritual and personal development books, with each one giving us something new to think about, question or explore in our own lives. This page shares our current book, along with some of the books we’ve read previously, so you can see what we’ve been exploring and perhaps discover your next read. Discussion, reflections and the occasional “what on earth did the author mean by that?” moment all take place within our private WhatsApp Community, where members can share their thoughts and experiences as they read.

Our Current book of the month is...

Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav

I chose this book because I have previously explored my own soul purpose and soul path, and I felt that The Seat of the Soul would offer an opportunity to look more deeply at the soul’s journey through the human experience. It explores ideas around authentic power, intention, karma, relationships, intuition and spiritual growth, giving us plenty to consider as we reflect on our own lives and experiences.

This is a comprehensive book with lots of food for thought, so it isn't necessarily one to rush through! It also includes a useful study guide with questions for reflection and exercises to help you explore some of the ideas more deeply. As with any spiritual book, you don't have to agree with everything you read. For me, part of the value is noticing what resonates, what challenges my thinking and what encourages me to look at something from a different perspective.

We are reading The Seat of the Soul over two months, September and October 2026, giving us plenty of time to read, reflect and discuss the ideas within our Spiritual Book Club WhatsApp Community.

October's book of the month is...

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

I chose The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho as our October book because, after spending the past few months exploring some longer and more intense books, I thought it would be lovely to slow things down and simply enjoy a story. Although it is a novel, The Alchemist offers plenty of themes for us to reflect on, including following your dreams, listening to your intuition, recognising opportunities and discovering your own path. It gives us the opportunity to explore some meaningful ideas through storytelling, without the heavy study load of our previous books. I hope it will give our group a chance to read for enjoyment, share our thoughts and notice what messages or reflections arise for each of us along the way.

Atomic Habits

by James Clear

Book of the month August 2026

Why I recommend this book

I first read Atomic Habits in January 2022, and it gave me a really practical way to understand how small, consistent changes can create lasting habits. One of the ideas I found particularly useful was habit stacking, which involves linking a new habit to something you already do regularly. I found this a simple but effective way of making new habits feel more natural and easier to maintain. I recommend this book because it takes the often overwhelming idea of changing our habits and breaks it down into manageable steps that can be applied to everyday life.

Who this book is for

Anyone who wants to understand their habits better and make positive changes without trying to change everything at once.

Level: Beginner

Style: Practical

Best for: Personal development and building sustainable habits

Beyond Wanting

by Matt Cook

Book of the month July 2026

Why I recommend this book

I chose Beyond Wanting as the first book for our Spiritual Book Club because I had read it myself in January 2026, and it helped me take my approach to manifesting to a new level by giving me a clear and organised structure to work with. I was already familiar with many of the techniques explored in the book, but having the reasoning behind them explained so clearly from both a spiritual and scientific perspective made them feel more meaningful and helped me understand why they worked together as part of a bigger process.

Who this book is for

Anyone who is ready to explore manifestation more deeply and take their practice to the next level.

Level: Intermediate

Style: Practical

Best for: Personal reflection and putting ideas into practice
