Embracing Change with Reiki

Change can be unsettling — even when it’s a change we’ve chosen. It can stir up feelings of uncertainty, resistance, or even grief for the old ways we’re leaving behind. Yet, change is also a powerful opportunity for growth, renewal, and transformation.

Here in Scotland, we’re moving towards autumn — though you wouldn’t know it with the multiple heatwaves we’ve been having! Still, nature is quietly preparing for the shift. Leaves are starting to turn, crops are ripening, and the air carries hints of the new season ahead. The natural world shows us, year after year, that change can be beautiful. Trees don’t resist letting go of their leaves; they release them gracefully, trusting in the cycle of life.

Reiki can help us to do the same. By working with this gentle yet powerful energy, we can release fear, open to possibility, and create space for what’s to come. Reiki supports us in aligning mind, body, and spirit so that we can meet change with calm confidence.

A Reiki Technique for Embracing Change

One simple yet effective way to work with Reiki during times of transition is the “Release and Receive” meditation:

  1. Find a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed. Sit comfortably with your hands in Gassho (palms together in front of the heart).
  2. Invite Reiki to flow, either silently or aloud, using your preferred method of connection.
  3. Breathe deeply, and as you inhale, visualise yourself drawing in light, peace, and strength.
  4. As you exhale, imagine releasing fear, tension, or anything you no longer need.
  5. When you feel ready, place one hand on your heart and one on your solar plexus. Ask Reiki to help you accept and flow with upcoming changes.
  6. Stay here for several minutes, letting the energy soothe and balance you.

This technique can be used for any type of change — whether it’s seasonal, personal, professional, or emotional. The more we practise letting go with grace, the more space we create for the new to arrive.

As autumn reminds us, change doesn’t have to be harsh or chaotic. It can be gentle, colourful, and full of promise — especially when we allow Reiki to guide us through it.

Please remember that help is available if you are struggling with change. Always consult your doctor for medical advice about health changes.

Are you navigating change? I'd love to hear if you try this technique and how it supports you.
